Summer Chill at National Taichung Theater

很多人對臺中的印象，都是很「chill」－－很鬆、很怡然自得、又有生活態度。而進到溽暑盛
夏，臺中便將以連番登場的音樂劇與親子節目，用獨白、對話、歌唱，以及滿滿的歡笑與熱
情，填出一整個輕鬆又豐盈的夏季。

臺中國家歌劇院2022夏日放／FUN時光，十檔精選節目，包含現代版童話歌劇《糖果屋》、
家庭音樂會《動物醫生的煩惱》、親子舞蹈劇場《睡前故事》。還有劇場百變女王王安琪獨
挑大樑演出的《愛在年老色衰前2.0》；以90年代流行文化元素，重現七年級生復古懷舊感愛
情故事的《我為你押韻－情歌 Revival》；荒誕笑談心中最畏懼角落的《欸！恐不恐怖？》；
遊走於偵探們「房間」尋找線索的沉浸式作品《偵探學》。
每年備受矚目的「音樂劇在臺中」，當然也沒缺席。改編文學大師陳千武經典小說的《熱帶
天使》，歷經三年打造；睽違十二年，以臺灣近代歌謠之父鄧雨賢為背景的《四月望雨》，
則帶領觀眾重返大稻埕摩登繁華「跳舞時代」；外百老匯最長壽音樂劇《I Love You, You're
Perfect, Now Change》，挾著票房長紅且零負評的氣勢，今年七月即將登上歌劇院舞台。
而談到音樂劇或歌舞劇，其發展的歷史裡，有一部分正包含了所謂的「變裝」，也就是表演
者透過妝髮與戲服翻轉性別，或是以不分雌雄的華麗裝扮登台。到底變裝與表演藝術從什麼

Many think of Taichung as a city of chilled vibes, with a unique lifestyle that is truly relaxing and
cozy. As scorching and humid summer progresses, with a schedule of successive musicals and
family programs, Taichung will bring you a lightening and enriching season full of laughter and
enthusiasm with monologues, dialogues, and singing.
National Taichung Theater's 2022 Summer Fun Time features 10 selected programs, including
family programs such as the modern version of the fairytale opera Hänsel und Gretel, the
concert Worries of an Animal Doctor, and the dance theater Bedtime Story. In addition, NTT also
offers a wide range of plays. Angie Wang, dubbed "the versatile queen of theater," will play the
lead in Before Outdate. Love Song: Rhyme for you (Revival) is a retro love story encompassing
pop-culture elements from the 90s. Creepy or Happy? looks into the darkest side of mankind in a
touch of absurdity and humor. And finally, the immersive theatre Detective Deduction invites the
audience to scour the detectives’ “cells” to search for clues.

Of course, the much-expected annual series event “Oh! NTT Musicals” will be a part of Summer
Fun Time. Adapted from the classic novel by literary master Tân Tshian-bú, Tropical Angels is
the fruit of three years' painstaking effort. Based on the life story of Then Yí-hièn, the father of
modern Taiwanese folk song, April Rain will come back to the stage after 12 years and transport
the audience back to the glamorous “Dancing Era” of Dadaocheng. Lastly, with its grandeur of
box office hits and zero negative reviews, the longest-running off-Broadway musical I Love You,
You're Perfect, Now Change will take NTT's stage this July.
Part of the development of musical or music theater has to do with “cross-dressing,” the act of
performers becoming the opposite sex through hairstyle, makeup, and costume, or appearing on
stage in gorgeous, gender-neutral costumes. So when did cross-dressing and performance art
